Vegetarianism

Would you be willing to remove all the meat from your life? It can sound a little drastic or even impossible for some people, but it is the reality for millions of others. Vegetarianism is not necessarily a bad thing; you simply eat substitutes of meat. Should Vegetarianism be more encouraged by dieticians and doctors? I think it could solve many problems in the society like environmental issues and bring us many health benefits even if some do not think so. First, eating less meat has a huge impact on our environmental footprint. As you might know, all the meat that we buy from the supermarkets comes from intensive farming. These do not only produce huge quantities of methane, but also causes soil depletion. The methane is very harmful because it is considerate as a greenhouse gas, which has negative effects on climate change. This gas is 25 times more powerful than dioxide of carbon. The soil degradation can be really harmful for long term use of the land. It can cause the cha

How is it to spend three months without your family?

How is it to spend three months without your family? It is awesome! Seriously, you probably think you would miss them, but you don’t! Sure, the first week is all about adaptation, but after you get used to it and start to like it. Personally, I went 3 months in Guatemala. Just to put in context, I have two brothers and a sister. In my life, I had never been alone. I went to Minnesota without my parents, but I had my little sister. In one trip, there was many first times. First time taking the plane alone, first time in Central America, first time in Guatemala, first Spanish immersion, well, I think you get it. There were a lot of stress associated with those situations at the time, but when I look back, it was all part of the adventure and it was INCREDIBLE. Without parents, I could eat ice cream in huge quantities. I could go late to bed on school nights. I could be on my phone for the length I wanted. This I when you really learn about   responsibilities. I said I could, bu

Introduction

My name is Éloïse Dubuc and I am a senior in high school. I started writing this blog for my English class. This blog will be about life… Wow! I know it is a huge subject. I did not want to talk about a specific subject so why not talk about things that helped me get through high school or just tips on activities you might want to try. Let’s talk a little bit about me. I love everything about crafts; I have a bullet journal, which help me develop my creativity and craft a little more often. I absolutely love travelling! I have spent three months in Guatemala last year and I am already planning to go back again. I like trying new things, I think this is one of the main reasons I did not want a particular subject. If you have seen my first post, you probably know that I have anxiety and it is part of my life, my little challenge. Just a little reminder that nobody is perfect and we all have our daily challenges.

How to live with anxiety

If you were expecting an easy solution, there is none. Of course, you will have to work to find your solution. As you probably know, each human is different, so it would be impossible to have one solution for everybody. First, what is anxiety? Anxiety can take different forms, either it is through a phobia, a panic disorder, social anxiety or many other disorders. A phobia is an extreme fear of something that is changing the course of someone’s life. The most known phobias are Arachnophobia (fear of spiders), Claustrophobia (fear of small spaces), Acrophobia (fear of height), Trypanophobia (fear of injections), and many more. More than 9.1% of Americans have a specific type of phobia, which represents more than 19 million people.  A panic disorder causes repeated panic attacks for no valuable reason. The symptoms of a panic attack are pain in the chest, shorter breath or hyperventilation, sweating, choking feeling, hot or cold flashes, etc. Just remember that panic attac
